Father's Day - July Unicorn

Hello everyone!

I have a card to show you today that is featured over at Unicorn Challenge Blog.

Our challenges start on 1st September and we are showcasing some of our DTs work in the lead up to launch, please come on over and have a look!
The image is of a 1930 Alfa Romeo by Debra Page and is from 365 Cross Stitch Designs magazine volume 4.  It was stitched 2 over 2 using the recommended DMC threads on 28 count evenweave. I layered it with brown card and stripy paper (from a Christmas pack!) and added a stamped sentiment and some pearls.

Ornament mouse

Hello everyone!  I  have a card to show you today, I am getting ahead for Christmas and have made this cute little chap!  He came on the cover of a magazine but I can't find it now so can't remember which one it was - whoops!  Let's hope I don't want to stitch him again.  I'm sure it must be in my craft cupboard somewhere, I must have too much stash in there!

I have layered him on gold mirror card and used 2 different fir tree patterned papers.  I added a sentiment from Hunkydory and some felt snowflakes with pearls.

It seems like I haven't made a card for ages.  I have had so much going on at my son's school I don't seem to have had much time to get everything out and it has been easier just to concentrate on the stitching.  It's the last day of Infant school today so all the assemblies and concerts are done.  It's been lovely watching everything he's been in.  Can't quite believe he'll be going to Juniors in September though, where does the time go?!

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:

CRAFT - Christmas
Cardz 4 Guyz - Christmas in July
Crafting for all Seasons - Christmas in July
Pile it On - Christmas in July
My Time to Craft - Christmas in July
Craftyhazelnuts - Christmas challenge extra
Craftyhazelnuts - patterned paper
Crimbo Crackers - Something cute
The Glory of Christmas - Feature a creature

Please remember to come over to Unicorn and see what the DT have been up to, it's not that long until we launch our first challenge!

IHSW update

Hello everyone, I'm a bit late with my International Hermit and Stitch Weekend update.  I worked on Forsest Walk and Bamboo Fan.

Here's where I started

And here's where I got to

The dragon's head is starting to appear now.  There's an awful lot of confetti now so I think progress will be slower.  I'll also be starting Pretty Little Hong Kong when I go on holiday so that will slow me down too.

Thanks for visiting, happy stitching!

A New Start!

Hello everyone, I have a confession to make - I have started a new project!  I am usually a one at a timer but I think I have just started what will become a rotation.  I have bought a chart from Satsuma Street - Pretty Little Hong Kong. I thought I might be able to use the fabric I have bought ready for my Treasure Hunt Bookshelf HAED so I decided to cut the fabric and see how much I had left.  Turns out it's not the right count and there's not enough left over either so I've bought some new fabric and plan to take it on holiday with me in August.  So then I got to thinking what can I do with my 25 count off cuts? Story keep!  And HAED had a sale on for Independence Day. I have bought the Forest Walk story keep chart and as I treated myself to a complete set of DMC threads with my bonus from work a while back I realised I could make a start straight away and it would be good practice stitching on 25 count fabric for when I do Treasure Hunt Bookshelf.  So I now have 2 WIPs! And when I start Pretty Little Hong Kong I'll have 3. Then there are the smalls for my cards.  What have I done!!!

It's International Hermit and Stitch Weekend again this week so I'll have plenty to do.  I'm working on Saturday but hope to make some good progress on the other days.  Here's where I'm up to so far:

Happy stitching everyone, I hope to have a card to share with you later in the week.

#realstitchersdontsteal

Hello everyone.  I read a very interesting blog post by Jo at Serendipitous Stitching earlier in the week about copyright theft in the stitching world.  I had no idea that this was such a problem. Chiara at The Grey Tail suggests that we take pictures of our original kits or order numbers to show our support and prove we've bought it legitimately.  I have spent a couple of days taking pictures of the kits that I've completed but have yet to make up so when I do post my progress I can prove that #realstitchersdontsteal.

Here's an update on Bamboo Fan, it's coming along quite nicely.  I think I've done more in the last couple of days than I did in IHSW!

I'm off to do a bit more stitching now as I have a couple of hours before the school run.  It's my son's school summer fayre tomorrow so fingers crossed for a dry day! Thanks for visiting and remember to support #realstitchersdontsteal
